Beautiful Brows

The brow is often the face’s forgotten feature. The focus tends to be on the eyes, the lips, the hair but a well-groomed, well designed brow is not only more flattering but can actually open up the face, lift deep set eyes, maximize small eyes and can often have the effect of a surgical eye lift.

We are born with a brow shape that works naturally with our face and eyes. When shaping the brow its own natural line should be the guide.  Brow styles have come and gone.   In the 1940’s women shaved their brow and then painted on thin black lines!  In the early 1960’s a narrow line was again the fashion but it was achieved through exaggerated plucking.  Thanks to Brooke Shields, a strong, fuller brow took hold in the late 1970’s.  Since then brow styles have seen more defined and well-groomed and more natural looking.

Eyebrows have to work with your features and style. If you are small and have delicate features, your brow should have a finer line. But if you have a larger face and a more athletic build your brows would look better a little thicker and a little less refined. If you have long hairs in your brows, they must be trimmed to keep the brows looking neat. It is very difficult to shape your own brows correctly. This is best left to the professionals.

Some Common Brow Mistakes:

1.       Over Tweezing – Can result in uneven brows, distortion of the brows natural line and a harsh severe look.

2.       Comma-paisley shaped brows – a common mistake where the brow has a round clump or hook at the inside corner than trails off narrowly. This never looks good.

3.       Shaving the brow – this is never a good solution to unruly brows and can result in brows not growing back fully or evenly.

4.       No maintenance – every woman can benefit from a brow shaping and clean up. Our brows should frame and highlight our eyes, give our face a lift and improve our expression.

A beautiful, well-shaped brow can do wonders for the face.  It’s never too late.  In fact, a quick way to take years off your face it to have your brows done!!!
